Notes / Reviews

Goblin is the second studio album by OFWGKTA member Tyler the Creator. It has been confirmed to be released on May 10, 2011 through XL Recordings.

The album was supposed to have the song "Llama" featuring Earl Sweatshirt, however, it was removed due to his mom not giving Tyler permission to use his vocals. Tyler has said that it may, however, be included on his third studio album Wolf.

On March 16, 2011, a preview of "Tron Cat" was released online as promotion for the album.http The album cover features a colored picture of Buffalo Bill when he was 19.

Artist/Band Information

Tyler Okonma (born March 6, 1991), better known as Tyler, the Creator, is an American rapper and record producer from Los Angeles, California. He is the leader of the hip hop collective OFWGKTA. He has rapped on, and produced for, nearly every OFWGKTA release.

Music career

2009–present

On December 25, 2009, Tyler self-released his first album, Bastard. The album, which quickly garnered buzz for its dark energy and punishing beats along with the raw psyche of its protagonist, was eventually ranked 32nd on Pitchfork Media's list of the Top Albums of 2010. On February 11, 2011, Tyler released the music video for the first single "Yonkers" from his second album, Goblin, due to be released May 10, 2011. The video has received much recognition from online media outlets. An extended version with a third verse can be purchased on iTunes. After the release of "Yonkers," XL Recordings announced that Tyler had signed a one-album deal with the label. Tyler and fellow OFWGKTA member Hodgy Beats made their television debut on February 16, 2011 when they performed "Sandwiches" on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. On March 16, Tyler and Hodgy performed "Yonkers" and "Sandwiches" on the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards, being joined by the rest of Odd Future on "Sandwiches".
